Prepaid metering is a win-win for both the power utilities and the consumers. While the utilities cut their AT&C losses caused by the use of postpaid, analog meters, consumers don’t have to any extra amount because of faulty meter readings. With prepaid metering, the DISCOMS can collect the revenue beforehand and they don’t have to run after the defaulters, which are always large in number.  Also, prepaid meter readings cannot be altered using whatever means as the calculation is done in backend, which is a fully compliant system.
